The Fylde Coast has a population of 326,000 people with a working age population of 195,500. There are also a further 10 million people within a two hour driving time of Blackpool.

A large proportion of the working population are economically active but there are also those that are willing and able to work and this is where The Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre EDC’s strong links to academia and to support schemes for employers to create a work ready workforce gives a competitive edge.

There are 10,990 active enterprises across the Fylde Coast, many of which are within our target sectors and taking advantage of the area’s affordability, ‘can do’ attitude, connectivity, workforce, skills and training, not least the fact that it is an extraordinary place to live and work.

A train to London will only take you 2.5 hours, with direct routes to the capital reinstated in December 2014; average broadband speeds are around 20 Mbps and the average house price here in Blackpool is approximately £115,000 (66% of the North West average: £175,000, 56% of the UK average: £204,000).
